Koare Rural Development Association by Richard Thomas

Good Day Everyone,

Its very humbling to read the comments from you fellas about how you care and feel about your home. This is the sort of spirit and enthusiasm we need to build if we as a group want to give something back to our communities. Its good to speak your minds in this sort of discussions so that we bring the best out of each other and select ideas that will best suit our purpose and move on from there. Way forward in my opinion is to register that association (Brian or Tony) who ever is doing it. The association registration will require initial office bearers names as well so interim members names can be chosen upon agreement in this forum. This is important to keep everyone in the loop.

To keep the discussions on the road issues, I think for funding to come out from our pockets is a massive ask. That is not being realistic. We can not build a decent road from that source of funding. What we can do is seek funding through the association from donor agencies,  NGOs or wherever  like John as indicated so we need the association to be set up and then work on proposals on behalf of the association to seek assistance.

I was one of the critics of the Koare Konda Website simply because I did not believe the notion that it will bring the Koare people out of their doll-drums with the creation of the website without associations like the one we are proportion in place. So the association a good idea to put the website to a good use. For those of you who are going home, please take some good pictures of our road condition, village settings and pictures of some struggles in life of our people so that we can post that on the website, then tie the association proposals with the website so whoever we are seeking assistance from can confirm from the pictures and stories on the website.

I heard rumours that David Were brought some ADB people to Koare for possible funding of the road. If that materialises, that is a good start.  I did not agree however that the road will be built by our people using spades, etc. You all know the quality we are going to get out of that and I believe it will be a wasted opportunity. I know our peope will be very happy because they will get cash but they have being getting cash by doing road contracts all those donkey years but the road has gone from bad to worse. I think, when we have the opportunity, they must bring in machines to do the work. If people build it, you all know the quality we will get out of it, and I believe it will be a wasted opportunity. Whoever can contact David, please raise these with him. Its good that those among us who are in departments that directly deals with delivering services to local masses ensuring Koares get a bit of the cherry. Well done to David and Joel if what we are hearing materialise.

Em tasol na you all have a safe weekend.

PS: Please lets be realistic about our dreams and aspirations for Koare.
