PUTTING KOARE RURAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (KRDA) ELEMENTS IN ORDER By: Ms Percy Naleme Rame

Article:#3

Okay! Great start everyone. There is a lot of information put forward by most KKKs so far. So, it is now time to put some steps in place so that we all understand the various elements associated towards creating the KRDA Profile and Development Proposals. Remember, I'm touching base here so that we all stay on track.

The profile and proposals are to be in clear, simple and easy to understand language. No jargons and vague words. It is important to have in mind that busy officials and decision makers don't waste their time reading everything that is written. Therefore, the style of writings must be; to the point, easy to read, and eye-catching piece of paper. For this reason, once the profile and proposals are written all KKKs concerned in this task must view to make comments and to edit if any. On this note, has John or anyone started the association profile yet? If not, I will create one and put out for everyone to edit/comment, and refine it with John before finalizing.

Now, following is the content outlook of the development elements:

  1. The KRDA profile (will contain)
    1. introduction
    2. strategy (vision mission statement)
    3. economic (commerce) concepts
    4. management and ownership
    5. current customers and projects
    6. completed projects, and
    7. attachments and supporting documentation

  1. The development proposals (it is important to start from the immediate needs to the medium/long term services. To begin with, Brian has already touched on the roads/bridges & health which is excellent )
    1. Roads & bridges
    2. Health
    3. Education
    4. Accessible water
    5. Airstrip (Waluanda)
    6. Agriculture
    7. Commerce
    8. Sports & recreational activities
    9. Church, and so forth……..

It is also worthy to incorporate completed and current community projects into the KRDA Profile, which John has mentioned in one of his articles. Whilst, still remain as individual community projects. In doing so, it will literally substantiate to the authorities & donors that Koare people are dead serious about fighting for fair basic services which is rightfully ours.

Further, when submitting proposals for the KRDA development appeals, the following documents must be enclosed:

  1. A KRDA cover letter,
  2. the KRDA development proposal
  3. the KRDA profile
  4. the KRDA account statement (each of us can contribute a fare share to go towards this), and
  5. References from trusted sources - stating that "the association is a legitimate institution created by the Koare people to fight for development" after years of negligence by government (we can easily obtain this from the Catholic bishop of Mendi through Sister Rose and Fr. of Koare Diocese at Mapeanda. Brian/John/Awel please arrange this).

If these elements are not part of the proposal, it will simply be swept under the carpet by the institutions/organizations to whom we write. On a concluding note, we can now see that a fair bit of ground work is yet to accomplish before any development proposals are submitted. Proposals can still be prepared though, while waiting for the above components of documentation to come together.

Constructive comments are welcome!
