PROCESSES IN WRITING PROPOSAL PAPERS FOR AID/DONOR ASSISTANCES

Dear All Koare Kids,

I would like to contribute some important points relating to the above matter for the Koare individuals to be aware of, if anyone would be participating to write proposals!

Since the Koare intellects are scattered everywhere around the nation of PNG and abroad, draft proposals must be viewed by the active participants through this forum. This is to make sure that proposals are in correct format and that they consist the vital parts, such as; problem statement, rationale or justification for implementing the project, project goal and objectives, strategy and activities, results and budget.

As a process/procedure, copies of proposal papers (hardcopy) or soft copies (on PC hard drives) and all other relevant documentation are to be kept in a selected location by mandated people. This process is paramount because it will avoid duplication of proposal writings, easy for KRDA members to access papers as/when required for references etc.., and it signifies an overall practice of professionalism in the operation of the KRDA.

The other important factor is that participants must ensure to gather information about the donor whom they intend to write to. Informations such as; aid priorities and issues of the donor, the donors strategy paper (if any), proposal guidelines, previously funded projects and programs. This background knowledge about the donor will provide a clear picture about the relevant projects to write.

At my end (Australia), I already have a database of possible international donors which I will start rolling out in contacting and writing, once all the KRDA’s substantiating documents are in place. As a team, those of us who are participating will do prior discussions and come to agreements on projects before putting down on paper.

Meantime, I urge that we must start identifying the projects in a manner of; short, medium and long term basis.

E.g., in short term basis it would mean to secure medicines, vaccines for babies and young children, maternal/midwife care assistances, learning materials for schools etc…; medium/long term basis would mean to refurbish or elevate Koare Health Centre, build bridges & roads, build vocational centre to train youth in building/plumbing/agriculture/sewing etc.. through donor manpower trainers/teachers, advocating equal education for all children regardless of affordability and long distances , empowering and training communities to venture into economic activities and so on.

Regarding economic activities, Koares’ main source of sustainable income is only coffee, so I would encourage the communities to get into planting coffee trees. I know it is a tough task to look after the trees, therefore, I intend to embark on creating “Coffee Development Project” under the KRDA for the whole of Koare area.  I do have a background knowledge and experiences in this area so I will soon start to create Coffee Development Project Plan.

To conclude, if anyone wishes to get more ideas/infos on the proposal writings, please feel free to do so.

Note: these concepts and others yous may have are to be disseminated to the Koare community during the launching of the KRDA association in Koare at a time suitable for all of us anytime in 2012.

Thank you all and my Kindest Regards,
