Dear All Koare Konda Kids, Thank you so much for all the comments and contributions towards "Koare Rural Development Association". It means alot and such contribution of ideas, skills and resources add true value and meaning to what we are initiating and want to achieve in the years to come so long as Koare exists and our generations exist and survive the hardships, difficulties times and problems we all face in our individual lives, family circles, community level, and the wider society at large. It is through such active involvement and participation that things move from one stage to another. No man is an island as they say. We need each other's back to look out for, support each other and see the future with optimism and clear sense of responsibility and direction. All that we are doing, as Rex Yatu has rightfully stated, we have been talking about the way forward, how to get our Koare folks together but no one started too soon due to different responsibilities we all have had over the years. Now all of us are paving way for all Koares to see each other through the formation of this association. In many different parts of PNG, people form associations for different purposes, but the major reason being to establish a legally recognized institution, supported by its own CONSTITUTION to function for the purposes of being recognised by relevant government authories and other support agencies such as donors to bring basic but much needed services to the poor. One person can not go and ask the government or donor agencies to suppport our area. A collective and concerted effort is needed and one of the major ways people in other parts of PNG are doing is through the formation of such associations. That means all of us need to feel proud, be happy and leave ill-feelings of any sort behind and support this course for our common good. This association is the flagship and is the way forward and I would expect all Koare flesh and blood to take full responsibility, ownership and work towards achieving the intended goals and objectives. If you do have any sort of feeling, PRAY TO GOD TO FORGIVE YOURSELF AND BE HAPPY YO WORK TOGETHER AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS. Our poor peoopel back in the villages depend entirely on us as educated people. They have special respect for us and it breaks my heart when we do things which make us differ from each other. I just hope that all Koares will at least contribute in different ways and leave behind and feelings and thoughts of any sort you might have. If I have created any issues with any Koare Kids, please forgive me and I want all of us to be part of this course in our different ways and capacities. To be frank no one person will take ownership of this institution and no one will do that. This association belongs to the people and children of Koare and I can assure all that other parts of Kagua/Erave/Pangia/Ialibu are starting to have access to our information and they are waiting in earnest to see how we are re-grouping and re-organising ourselves. Many people I have spoken to so far feel that Koare people are more peace loving and things that are are doing is seen and heard by others. When one brother or sister falls, another one should step in and up-lift that fallen hero and proudly take off the burden and move to the next level. Only then I am sure we will know that our little place will be a model home for all to see and feel and experience. Lets all work together so that from nothing we can create something, and from nowhere we can be somewhere. Through God's Grace we can fulfill our heart's desires and build this institution for the good of our children. On that note let me clarify some things here. I deliberaly selected the four guys to be party to the account of the association. In fact it is was a suggestion and I have made note below that I would rather ask the guys to confirm their participation. The guys whom I have chosen represent the entire Koare population from all corners, at least to start off with. But this was not a confirmed interim committee, do not take me wrong in this please. This group of men were chosen to simply open the Association account. The account is very important for the effective functioning of the association itself. However, be informed that our bro Kevin Kama just informed us that we cannot just open the account straight away like that. For an association BSP requires certain documentation such as the association registration certificate, first meeting minutes among other relevant documentation. As such we are putting this on hold for the time being until the Associaiton registration comes out in few weeks time. So I thought we would have the account done immediately but since it requires other documentation, we have to wait for the association certificate and the first meeting to come about. Only then we can proceed with the account openning. But please have some fair adea on the composition of the association so that the organisation truly represents the entire Koare area so that one person, family, group or clan does not feel being isolated. This is an INCLUSIVE ORGANISATION. Those days when one rules over the other, one man decision making and others become mere followers is over and now this new generation of Koare Kids want to chart our future based on respect for one another, support, encouragement, team work, having and sharing the same vision and mission for common good of our remote location. We also want to establish the fact that every Koare Kid has some kind of ability to contribute meaningfully at least something depending on your individual abilities and strength. Take note that those boys and girls who are thinking of formulating a Project Proposal, please do not publish the Proposals on the website. This is to avoid other people other than our Koare tolks having access to the data and information. Proposal writing for projects should be treated confidential and must only be seen by the Koare Konda Kids. However, in the long term, this will be further restricted to only members of the association and eventually to the elected Association Executive members. On this note please think about the following and throw in some ideas you may have: 1. Date for first meeting ( will be determined by the Association Registration Certificate). But think along Rex Yatu's proposal to have it during the coming elections where we can have more audience and solicit funding opportunities for the association. 2. Launching of the Association; where, when and how? 3. Membership fees: different stages such as educated people who are working in bigger jobs, working people but less income, councillors, village leaders, village mothers and fathers, children in high schools, children in primary schools, children in the villages, church pastors etc etc. 4. Association Structure: Executive including Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Committee Members, Secretary, and Treasurer. 5. Different Committees such as Health, Education, Agricultire etc based on the development needs in our area which must be headed by a structure as well. 6. Patron: This person is very important person who must be of high social status such as our Member of Parliament, District Administrator or Kiap so that by involving them we easily have access to funding and respource support. This is infact part of their social obligation to do so. 7, any other issues you may think of.... I think em tasol na hope this helps so that we know where we all are going and what lies ahead of us to ensure Koare one day enjoys this hard work and our children can feel happy and be proud of what we have started for them. Kindest regards and may the good Lord continue to bless us as we collectively work through and chart our future forward with optimism. --- On Thu, 9/2/12, Rex Yatu <rex.yatu@interoil.com> wrote: From: Rex Yatu <rex.yatu@interoil.com> Subject: RE: Koare Rural Development Association Account & Details To: "'Mole, Joshua'" <Joshua.Mole@oktedi.com> Cc: "'John Rombo'" <johnrombo2004@yahoo.com>, "'Victor Smyth'" <admin@eswconstructions.com>, "Paulus, Brian" <Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com>, "Richard Thomas" <richard.thomas@morobejv.com>, blthomas@airniugini.com.pg, tonnykondo@gmail.com, "Kevin Kama" <KKama@bsp.com.pg>, "'Jacob Rara'" <jrara@westpac.com.au>, "Rex Raitan" <rex_raitano@yahoo.com> Received: Thursday, 9 February, 2012, 1:17 PM I think John only appointed temporary office bearers maybe because those temporary appointees live in Pom and he thought of speeding up the whole thing by opening an account while waiting for permanent office bearers. Below are my thoughts and I would like to stress them: 1. We are doing this all in the name of all Koares, from the valleys of Seka Tea to the last places of Koare weather it is Epabini, Koya, Karanda, Ripulu or so forth……… 2. All along, the invitation to the Koare kids with email/internet has been called/and is still calling……….. Despite all of these, only few are very vocal here! 3. The very people who are vocal are the ones who will be standing in, through the journey of this course sacrificing their leisure/family times. Thats from writing proposals (whether it means to seek assistances to do so) to knocking on the doors of donors even if it may mean to spend own fortune along the ways. 4. The people whom I believe will carry this task through to its destiny; John Rombo, Brian Paulus, Steven Awape, Rex Yatu, Richard Thomas – who maybe behind the scenes just observing, Joshua Mole, David Wereh though he may not be party to these forums, others who are in for morale support, and offcourse acknowledging the support behind from our boys like (Bernard T, Jacob R and Doctor Wapu), and not forgetting myself offcourse. 5. When it comes to appointing executives, whether temporary/part-time/fulltime, this is the area where it'll need collaborative deliberations from all Koare kids in this forum to appoint bearers. One man decision is not the way to go, because this will only create bearings to individuals who are striving to write proposals, collecting data, raise awareness to the community levels etc, etc….. Liklik decision or bikpela decision olgeta mas contributim tingting/toktok bilong ol. 6. Appoint people who are active and supportive of this association to the office bearer posts/committees. For example, Rex Raitano – I've never heard any input from him, let alone if his email address is dormant. I am not against the Aga-Keras, but, a rep from each part must be an active participant and cannot just ride under the rider. 7. Viewing of proposals; again – the likes of people mentioned in # 4 must view and make comments/inputs to ensure it is according to the satisfaction of all, so as to the KRDA. 8. Lets try every effort to include all Koares with email/internet. People like; Epson Epano (Kupa), Gabriel Kiliga (Lapogo), Pearson Kimbu Rigi from Yamorupi/Limba village (a nurse who worked tirelessly in Koare Health Centre for the last 3 or so years, he may have some good ideas in rural hospitals – Sister Rose may know this guy as he now works in Mendi so I will contact her). 9. Thank you Brian, and I commend you for taking a big step forward in putting that proposal together, and we will only see more from you. With that from me, God bless you all and bye. Percy N Rame. We are trying to do away with the idea of one person doing one doing and another person doing another thing. We are trying to do away with inviduals claiming things for themselves. Even for the formation of the association itself, this is the proper step forward for Koare by establishing a legally recognized institution in place which will act as the foundation for people to use to seek funding assistance, projects etc etc. Brian, I agree with Rex that your e-mail sounds like you are not happy with how we are forming the association as opposed to rhetoric. There is nothing wrong with it from the way we see it and all along I have been saying that this association is for Koare and someone needs to step in and act quickly and form the association. That's exactly what we have done and we need people like yourself with information and the know-how to write proposals and bring it to the attention of the association so that they will endorse it for the good of the association and it will become the association's property. We pretty much depend on the educated people from Koare to write proposals and seek funding assistance but must come under the association so that it becomes a legally recognised document for the good of the entire population. Therefore, I would recommend that do not do it of your own. Let other educated Koare people be aware of what you are doing and simply bring the Proposal to the attention of the "Koare Rural Development Association", let it be endorsed by the association executive and it will be the association's property after all. This is what are are trying to promote in Koare. Brian, you need to change your approach and don't think individual. The association is a legally formed and recognised organisation and we have legal people behind this association to move it forward. It is good you have collected most of the data from home so why don't you bring it to the attention of the association and let it be the association's property. This is the better way forward. It is not that hard to insert the association's name in what you have already done unless it is in PDF format Just simply insert the association's name in it and send it over to the interim committe which is composed of Bernard Thomas, Rex Yatu, Kevin Kama and Rex Raitano. They are signatory to the associaion's bank account as well until proper committee is established during the first meeting. Take note that no one will be allowed to do things individually using "Koare Rural Development Association" name and this will be part of the Policy Instruction and Rules of Operation that I am putting it together for the effective functioning of the association itself. This association is for Koare and is for Koare alone and the 15-20 thousand people in there. So Brian we need your ideas and the know-how to move this association forward to the next level and to make it work for the good of our people. --- On Wed, 8/2/12NOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. c/compose?to=Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com">Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com> wrote: From: PNOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. =Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com">Brian.Paulus@oktedi.com> Subject: RE: Koare Rural Development Association Account & Details To: "Rex Yatu"NOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. teroil.com" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:rex.yatu@interoil.com">rex.yatu@interoil.com> Cc: "'John Rombo'" <joNOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. mc/compose?to=blthomas@airniugini.com.pg" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:blthomas@airniugini.com.pg">blthomas@airniugini.com.pg" <admin@eswconNOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. se?to=admin@eswconstructions.com" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:admin@eswconstructions.com">admin@eswconstructions.com>, NOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. =jrara@westpac.com.au" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:jrara@westpac.com.au">jrara@westpac.com.au>, "Kevin Kama" <KKama@bsp.com.pg>, "NOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. /compose?to=tonnykondo@gmail.com" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:tonnykondo@gmail.com">tonnykondo@gmail.com>, "Rex Raitan"NOTE: URL removed for security purposes - contact terry.gilsenan@interoil.com for support. @yahoo.com" rel=nofollow target=_blank ymailto="mailto:rex_raitano@yahoo.com">rex_raitano@yahoo.com>, "Richard Thomas" <richard.thomas@morobejv.com>, "Mole, Joshua" <Joshua.Mole@oktedi.com> Received: Wednesday, 8 February, 2012, 1:47 PM Frankly I have no problem with you all in any regard or in this registration/formations of the association just that I have put in my resources and don't even know if the proposal will be funded so will leave it the way it is for now for the same purpose. I will forward a copy to the Koare Konda Website. It was for the road and the lone health centre in Koare where I went there twice last year and collected several data to put up this proposal. It will be a lengthy exercise to revise and insert the association into introducing etc. I'm currently doing the estimate financial cost proposition for both and will pin up for everyone to see once complete. The association is coming to fruition in few weeks time when the Association Registration comes out. In the mean time we are only waiting for the certificate to come out. Once that is being established, ALL KOARE RELATED PROPOSALS FOR PROJECTS WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE ELECTED ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE. Any proposal written for Koare and which needs to be ratified by the Association will have to be firstly approved by the executive in line with the aims and objectives of what the association stands for. I am putting together the composition of the Association Executive, Working Committees and the entire Association Structure. I am only doing a tentative work which will be deliberated, agreed upon and consolidated by all the Koare Konda Kids who will attend the first ever meeting. In the first meeting the Association's Executive and the different Working Committees will be nominated and elected. This is to consolidate the recognition of the Association as a legally approved organisation. Please be informed that Mr. Johannes Poya (LLB, UPNG) who is working as a senior Lawyer with Dr. Gubon Lawyers will be our association Lawyer for the time being, and it needs to be approved by the Executive for Mr. Johannes Poya to act on our behalf in any association related issues and problems on permanent capacity. Keep us informed. I have written a proposal but don't want it to come under this association, probably will do for the later one. Hi bro, I just started work couple of days ago and could not respond to all the emails as I had a lot to do after being out of work for a month. I'd like to thank Tonny for making things into reality while some of us were busy with work commitments and other stuff. Anyway, bro am satisfied with the way you nominated the guys as mentioned and am sure you were not biased but it depends on all our Konda's to come up and make changes if they think it needs some more changes. In the interim, I suggest we may leave it as it is and later come up with final office bearers. I will be out of this jungle sites on the 28th Feb to Pom and the continue on to Cairns on the 03nd March. I can catch up with Tonny, Kervin and Bernard in Pom between the 29th and the 02nd March and we will open an account under the association name. Best Regards! Rex Yatu Baimuru, GP How are you doing bro? Hope things are going good for you there. For your information the "Koare Rural Development Association" is being registered and we need your help to open an account under the association's name? Can you please do that with Tonny Kondo while your in your next break in POM? Please pay K100.00 as your contribution to open the account. Sooner or later we will be depositing funds into that account and also donor funds, other sources of assistance and Koare Konda Kids' membership financial contributions will also go into that account. The account needs to be signed by more than three people and I suggest the following for the time being until the permanent office bearers are nominated and appointed in our first meeting which will be done as soon as the Certificate of Registration comes out: 1. Bernard Thomas (Central and Eastern Koare Rep) 2. Rex Yatu (Western Koare Rep) 3. Tonny Kondo (Specialist/Organiser) 4. Rex Raitano (Southern Koare Rep) 5. Kevin Kama (Nothern Koare Rep) I will inform and ask the above guys to be party to the account through this e-mail. If anyone of you decline to be part of the account please let me know so that we can look for another person to take your place. | ===[Disclaimer]=== This electronic transmission, including any attachments, is confidential, may contain privileged information and should be read or retained only by the intended recipient.
